Life & Health Insurance Startup Community Launched

Brimfield, MA –March 5, 2013, 2013–Maria Thomson, FSA, a noted insurance industry transformation thoughtleader, has founded the New England Life & Health Insurance Startup Community and has formed a LinkedIn group of the same name as an avenue to engage people in the insurance and healthcare delivery industries and encourage the establishment of new businesses, support the growth of entrepreneurial businesses and help attract investors.

“The life and health industry is in tremendous need of new ideas and approaches to doing business,” said Thomson. “However, entrepreneurs in this space have encountered severe obstacles to becoming successfully established.  By sharing ideas and resources, we’ll help them overcome those hurdles and stimulate industry growth.”

This community is already gaining traction with the involvement of seasoned entrepreneurs, faculty from the University of Connecticut, and businesses that provide services to insurance and healthcare entrepreneurs. This diverse group of savvy business people are working together to support this effort and to build a solid foundation of industry and business knowledge that is necessary for the success of this community, she said.

Sponsors Sought for Kick-Off Event

A major kick-off event is being planned for this summer which will enable members of the community, sponsors and investors to get introduced to each other and make valuable connections. “Companies that are interested in investing in the community or providing goods and services to it should consider becoming sponsors.  We need funding, resources and planning assistance,” said Thomson.

Anyone interested in becoming a part of the community can join the LinkedIn ‘New England Life & Health Insurance Startup Community’ group or contact Thomson at
